District Elections

Transition to District-Based Elections

On October 3, 2017, the City Council adopted a Resolution outlining the City’s intent to transition from an at-large Council election system to one that is district-based.

On October 17, 2017, and November 7, 2017, the City Council held public hearings to receive public input regarding the composition of the districts.

Following the first two hearings, draft maps were drawn to identify the proposed boundaries of the districts.  These maps were  made available to the public as PDF’s and via an interactive map.  Please click on the icons below to review each version.

Subsequently, on December 5, 2017, and December 19, 2017, the City Council conducted two additional public hearings and received public input.  During the December 19, 2017, City Council meeting, a majority of the City Council selected the “Green” map and indicated the sequencing of votes to be as follows:

Districts 1 & 3 – Election Year 2018
Districts 2, 4, and 5 – Election Year 2020

The City Council will vote to finalize the selection on January 2, 2018.  If approved, voting in the City of Wasco will be held via the districts as listed on the “Green” map.
