A Foreign Trade Zone was recently designated by the U.S. Department of Commerce. The Zone encompasses a 640-acre industrial park located about 9 miles south of Wasco. This zone is a part of the Foreign Trade Zone that includes 3 acres of Los Angeles International Airport property and 2,700 acres at the Port of Los Angeles. Foreign Trade Zones are considered to be outside of U.S. Customs territory. As such, they offer businesses operating within the zone substantial benefits in terms of duties and tariffs.
