Mayor Pro Tem
Mayor Pro Tem Craig is a native of Wasco and is dedicated to improving the quality of life of our residents. She has represented the City as a Council Member since 1998. In 2001 she had the distinct honor to serve as the City's first female Mayor. Mayor Pro Tem Craig is on the Board of Directors of the Association of California Cities Allied with Prisons (ACCAP) and has served on the Kern Council of Governments Board of Directors for many years. She is also the past President of the League of California Cities South San Joaquin Valley Division.
Ms. Craig is a small business owner. She earned her Vocational Education Teaching Credential through the UCLA Extension Program, and used this expertise to lead efforts in the Downtown Wasco Beautification project, which included the assistance of local junior high school and high school students. Ms. Craig served as a mentor for youth involved in the Great Valley Institute CATAPULT Youth Leadership Program. She was named 2004 Citizen of the Year by the Wasco Chapter of the Future Farmers of America for her many contributions to the community. Ms. Craig is currently a Community Resource Manager at Kern Valley State Prison and works under Warden Hedgpeth.
